OpenGL and Vulkan: DOOM (2016)

OpenGL: DOOM (2016)

Doom (stylized as DOOM) is a first-person shooter video game developed by id Software and published by Bethesda Softworks. The game is a reboot of the Doom series and is the first major installment in the series since the release of Doom 3 in 2004. Doom's single-player mode has "badass demons, big effing guns, and moving really fast" as key principles, according to id Software executive producer Marty Stratton. The game features a large arsenal of weapons, which can be collected and freely switched by players throughout the game. Weapons such as the super shotgun and BFG 9000 return. We test this OpenGL title at Ultra quality settings with SMAA 1tx enabled.

Doom is an OpenGL game hence we test it as such. Recently a new patch was made available enabling early beta Vulkan support. Since it is a hot feature we'll start adding Vulkan results, however at the time Nvidia does not have ASYNC compute enabled in it's Vulkan drivers hence only AMD cards will fully utilize and support this API. Above a comparison in-between OpenGL and Vulkan on the Red DEVIL card. Below the regular OpenGL results.
