The Photos
On the next few pages we'll show you some photos. The images were taken at 2560x1920 pixels and then scaled down. The camera used was a Sony DCS-F707 5.1 MegaPixel.
Here's what to look for in the stores if you plan to buy a PowerColor Radeon HD 3870 X2 from the good folks at TUL. Nice design. Let's have a closer look at the graphics card itself though.
Yes it is considerably longer than usual, at first sight you'd not spot that there are two GPUs hidden under that big cooling unit. This PowerColor card follows 100% the reference design. So except for the stickers and boxed bundle, you will not spot a single difference.
The one thing you need to check out and verify is whether the X2 will fit in your chassis. Normally this should not be an issue. The card remains within ATX form factor specifications yet is 27 CM / 11" in length.
As you can see this is a dual-slot cooler, the beauty of the dual-slot cooling is that the heat released by the graphics card is not enclosed in your PC chassis. Contrary to it, it's exhausted outside the PC. The downside, it takes away one PCI(e) slot
Here we can see the two DVI connectors, which both have dual-link support (HDCP capable). High-Def screens and high-resolution monitors are key factors for this. Dual link DVI pins effectively double the power of transmission and provide an increase of speed and signal quality; i.e. a DVI single link 60-Hz LCD can display a resolution of 1920 x 1080, while a DVI dual link can display a resolution up-to 2560x1200 and I believe this to can go even higher.
With the help of the supplied DVI to HDMI adapter you can connect the card towards a HDMI HD Ready television or monitor for good picture quality and 5.1 sound over HDMI.
