PC Power and Cooling Silencer MkII 750W PSU review -
Product Showcase
There is one top fan; a 135mm ball bearing fan that is thermally controlled. The power supply stays fairly cool, even at a 500 Watt stress test the PSU remains cold to lukewarm at best. This model is definitely more silent compared to the Mk III model we recently tested..
The PSU has a standard ATX design, it'll fit in any chassis, its dimensions are: 5.9" x 3.4" x 6.3" / 150 x 160 x 86mm (W x L x H). The product is rated at a MTBF of 100,000 Hours. Divide it by 24 hours and 365 days a year and that would be 11.5 years. OCZ believes in their PC Power & Cooling hardware and gives you a 7-year warranty on the product.
When it comes to wiring we feel that there's enough connectors for a 750W model. Unfortunately the PSU is not modular though, so all cabling is physically attached to the PSU.
M/B Connectors:
- 1 x Main connector (20+4Pin)
- 1 x 12V (4-pin)
- 1 x 12V (8-pin)
Video Connectors:
- 4 x PCI-E (2 x 6-Pin, 2 x 6+2-Pin)
Drive Connectors: 7 x Peripheral
- 8 x SATA
- 1 x Mini
The ATX motherboard connector reached to 50CM which we find a little on the short side, the Molex and SATA power cables to 100 CM, the 8-pin CPU ATX power connector is 60 cm and the PCIE graphics connectors reach 60 cm as well. Graphics card wise you get to play with two 6-Pin and two 6+2-Pin) connectors. We see sleeved cabling with dark colored connectors.
So don't let the looks fool you, the Mk II 750 Watt PSU is a very powerful product, in fact it can even peak towards 820W.
Guru3D and OCZ join forces and decided to get you some cool hardware. PC Power & Cooling MK III Silencer 1200 review
We review the PC Power and Cooling MK III Silencer 1200 Watt review from OCZ technology. The new Silencer Mk III series are all about being quiet, being awesome and very efficient and again, the PSU as tested today carries a Platinum certification. The new PSU also improved on the audibility front as it comes with a switch, enabled it and up-to 600 Watt (!) the fan will remain disabled and at that load your PSU merely lukewarm. The 1200W PSU is massive in performance, the one massive 99.5A 12-volts says it all really. Excellent for multi-GPU solutions and hardcore overclockers. The PSU is engineered with merely premium components, including Japanese 105°C capacitors and heavy-duty protection circuitries.
PC Power and Cooling Silencer MkII 750W PSU review
The new model PC Power & Cooling power supply is their Silencer Mk II series of PSU's. It's the 'bloke' PSU series again with a simple design, and hey -- nothing is modular so the PSU certainly is a squid inside your system with all the tentacles (wires), but yeah .. lots of you don't really care about cable management, they just want the best of the best and sure ...as you'll learn you can't really complain about the essence that is the Mk II Silence 750W power supply.
