PC Power & Cooling Mk III 600W PSU review - Introduction

Silencer Mk III

A couple of years ago PC Power & Cooling was one of the most reputable PSU manufacturers on the globe. Their products oozed with keywords like pure quality and heavy duty. The power supply market changed and evolved rapidly though, quality became a standard and efficiency lately is the most prominent feature.

Then when a year or three ago when OCZ purchased PC Power & Cooling things slowly started to change, the European sales stagnated (whilst remaining a big brand in the US) and as such the fine stuff from PC Power & Cooling disappeared from the EU channels -- yep OCZ halted sales in the EU for PC Power & Cooling products as demand was too low. Things went quiet ... real fast.

Therefore it was with much surprise a couple of weeks ago when I noticed availability of a new model PC Power & Cooling power supply, their Silencer Mk III Modular PSU series had launched.

Carrying a 80+ Bronze certification (85% efficiency at typical load) , being modular, having good looks yeah the Mk III certainly promises to be a good product series.

Right now you can find a 600 Watt model in the stores for just 85 EUR. With the reputation PC&C has that's interesting enough for us to have a peek at the product, head on over to the next page where we'll startup the review.

PC Power & Cooling MK III Silencer 1200 review
We review the PC Power and Cooling MK III Silencer 1200 Watt review from OCZ technology. The new Silencer Mk III series are all about being quiet, being awesome and very efficient and again, the PSU as tested today carries a Platinum certification. The new PSU also improved on the audibility front as it comes with a switch, enabled it and up-to 600 Watt (!) the fan will remain disabled and at that load your PSU merely lukewarm. The 1200W PSU is massive in performance, the one massive 99.5A 12-volts says it all really. Excellent for multi-GPU solutions and hardcore overclockers. The PSU is engineered with merely premium components, including Japanese 105°C capacitors and heavy-duty protection circuitries.

PC Power and Cooling Silencer MkII 750W PSU review
The new model PC Power & Cooling power supply is their Silencer Mk II series of PSU's. It's the 'bloke' PSU series again with a simple design, and hey -- nothing is modular so the PSU certainly is a squid inside your system with all the tentacles (wires), but yeah .. lots of you don't really care about cable management, they just want the best of the best and sure ...as you'll learn you can't really complain about the essence that is the Mk II Silence 750W power supply.
