The Verdict

I must say that OCZ Technology is delivering a pretty impressive memory kit here. Not only was it able to coop with a sizzling 1142 MHz clock frequency, it pretty easily would cope with 1250 MHz as well. The performance is exceptionally good at this clock frequency versus steep DDR2 timings. Also, and not included in the tests, this memory was able to coop with a 1T command rate up-to 1050 MHz with these timings, quite lovely. Testing memory however always remains a tricky thing to do, it's hard to show the overall differences in an objective and representable fashion. Do not underestimate the importance of fast memory though.

Gaming wise I still say that the difference between one or two GB simply does not matter significantly unless your are on a Vista OS; however I do recommend you guys to make the switch toward 2Gb if you plan new memory or a new system.

It's not "just" memory size and timings, games and applications in general) need to swap way less (page file) and that has a very positive effect on your gaming experience (less stuttering). That alone should not be a reason to pickup a two GB kit though. Just for the sake it, this year 2GB will be as common as 1024 MB is right now.

To love or fear the Reaper; not once did we encounter stability issues, so that's definitely worthy of mention and I've actually tried this memory in two different systems as part of a little compatibility test. So this is some pretty cool stuff to have in your gaming rig eh?

You'll have plenty memory for the next year or two/three. The memory of course looks beautiful with the heatpipe cooling. And yes it's effective, but has a lot of marketing and aesthetic value as well. Hey, it's on there .. it's a fun thing for OCZ to do and it's good stuff for sure, especially in a case modification for the "Cool" factor.

guru3d_edit_125_single_gold.jpgThis memory comes recommended for high-end enthusiast platform with for example NVIDIA's 680i nForce series. On that topic, for those interested, the memory is SLI (EPP) memory capable. meaning that if you enabled it in the mainboard BIOS the memory will automatically be configured optimally. Just make sure your system is capable of utilizing the memory frequency.

Last but not least I just have to mention that the kit comes with a life-time warranty along with that you'll be allowed to be run that memory up-to 2.35V without affecting the warranty.

You tell me .. how on this earth can you possibly go wrong with this OCZ Reaper OCZ2RPR11502GK kit ? The 220 bucks you have to cough up for this memory is a bloody good price, in all fairness for a quality 2GB kit at this level it really is a bargain. What a flamboyant memory kit this is, and it looks so extraordinarily cool.
