On the previous edition, the Nvidia Shield remote was a 45 USD optional. This has now changed as you will receive the remote control as standard which is great. See, when you navigate though the user interface with your controller, that feels clunky and clumsy. The Nvidia Shield remote however is a thing of beauty when it comes to ease of use and ergonomics.

The biggest downside (in my opinion) is that the remote cannot be charged over USB anymore. It uses a small cell battery now. It should last a good 50 hours of activity but I am not a fan of swapping batteries all the time, it however is a cost effective choice from Nvidia. Due to this power source Nvidia also had to remove the headphone socket that the older model had.

It still is a nice and thin remote, it feels a little less sturdy compared to the older model though. It'll navigate you up, down, left, right and enter. Then there's back and home. Also the remote has voice control, which works really well. If you press the voice button and say 'start netflix' it'll do just that. Also if you say stuff like 'action movie' you'll see an overview of action movies. All Google play though, which is kind of annoying as you'll need to cough up dough for micro-transactions A LOT.

And that, my fellow gurus, is the package being tested today. On the next page we'll look through some of the Shield Android TV options and experiences.
