The Photos

Over the next pages we'll show you photos of the product raw and nekkid. The images were taken at 2560x1920 pixels and then scaled down. The camera used was a Sony DCS-F707 5.1 MegaPixel.

Alright, let's dive into the huge pictorial. I want to show you this system build as an "experience" and not so much as a static article. First we'll take a closer look at eVGA's nForce 790i SLI Ultra; then the ESA gear used, and then we'll start building the unit to see where we end up.

Alright then, first glimpse of the eVGA 790i Ultra SLI mainboard. Box design, bundle, manuals, looks good. Included in the eVGA box is a whole lot stuff. The whole lot is:

  • nForce 790i Ultra SLI Motherboard
  • I/O shield
  • Floppy cable
  • 2-port SATA power cable x3
  • FireWire cable (1394)
  • 4-port USB 2.0 cable
  • SATA cable x6
  • IDE PATA cable x1
  • 2-way SLI bridge
  • 3-way SLI bridge
  • Driver CD
  • Quick manual
  • Manual

Everything where possible is coloured nicely matching in black.

First impressions, the mainboard looks like the 680/780 mainboards, but the layout definitely is different. Slightly similar color schema as well. The passive cooling was completely redone though.

Pretty sexy looks though. PCB design follows ATX form factor. The PCB is pretty much the same as 780i yet notice the smaller details. A more refined look. The three PCIe 16x slots clearly visible out there in NVIDIA green colors and then very noticeable ... the new passive cooling block covering the SPP and MCP chipset. A less colorful more dark design mainboard, yeah I like it.

Here you can observe the read panel I/O. As you can see Serial and Parallel ports are now a thing of the past. From left to right:

  • PS/2 mouse & keyboard ports
  • SPDIF / TOSLINK output optical (great!)
  • eSATA & FireWire port & USB 2.0 x2
  • Audio ports analog
  • gBIT NICs x2
  • And another USB 2.0 x4
