SoundThe game has some really impressive sound. You can actually notice the difference in the engine sound once you upgrade the parts. Unlike the NFSU1 the change in parts now causes changes in engine sound and it does sound like something different. There are some really nice tunes in the game music. Their order of play can be sorted out by you as per your likes and dislikes. This is a personal choice and no point in commenting about my views. No one can tell what kind of music a person likes. Overall sound is impressive. If you have a surround sound system you can actually feel the opponent closing in on you from the left side as you pass another car in traffic on your right side. The experience is wonderful. This game is also THX certified, so that may say it all.

Multiplayer
There is multiplayer mode for this game. The multiplayer is simple. You can setup or join different types of races or there is free run mode where you move around the city with other players. Sometimes you will find some funny things and some funny people doing nothing but crashing into one another or pushing the other player's car around. The online experience was good even on my dialup connection. Racing with six players did not result in much slowdowns for me. A detailed ranking and statistics are displayed so thats big plus. There is also option to limit the rank of the car that enters a particular race.

Conclusion
Copyright Guru3D.com 2004The game is an extension of last years Need For Speed Underground and takes it forward.
The game tries and successfully brings the illegal street racing to our desktops. The game is a fun experience to play and can be very addictive. What keeps you going is the hunt to unlock more and more parts for car customization. And customizing the car to your liking is the most enjoyable part of this game.

The game comes with its own positives and negatives. The game is not perfect and it was not meant to be. Its more of a fun game than a simulation. The game packs good graphics and sound effects but it can get repetitive.

The game is long and you have to win many races to unlock the best parts. The big open city is big plus, but city navigation is not easy. There are many roads and a new gamer will have to switch to the big full map at almost every turn to find the way around the city. A better superimposed map similar to what we saw in Mafia would have been a better idea.

Overall its a good game, very addictive and a must buy for the Need For Speed series fan like myself. Take the game as a fun, enjoyable game and you wont be disappointed.
