Specifications & Features

MSI is only releasing two variants of the M3890 SSD: a 500GB model and a 1TB model; there are no 2TB or 4TB models available. Our tested 1TB unit has a 400 TBW endurance rating, which is excellent. The series will be equipped with 3D NAND flash memory that has been TLC written (vertically stacked over a whopping 176 layers). As a result, the company is able to provide adequate storage quantities. 3D NAND is employed in place of Planar NAND in this instance. It is important to note that 3D TLC NAND is not to be confused with chip stacking in a multi-chip device. 3D TLC NAND is physical vertical NAND cell stacking. In 3D NAND, rather than individual chips, NAND layers are layered together in a single integrated circuit. The good news is that cost reductions will continue, die sizes will shrink, and capacity per NAND chip will increase.

Easily fitting into a PCIe 3.0 x4 M.2 slot, the NVMe interface has been bumped upwards to the new 1.4 protocol and high-density TLC NAND combine with a Phison E15T controller to enable a new level of single-drive SSD performance at competitive pricing.
