MSI P67A-GD65 Preview

This standard ATX sized motherboard is to be called the P67A-GD65 and comes with a 6+2 phase VRM design, MSI's power phases each provide 35 Amp per phase. The chipset and VRM/MOS area have been covered by passive cooling heatinsk.

Featuring what MSI calls a Military Class II design, and we'll show you this later on, we spot a six phase power SFC choke setup. According to MSI it should provide up to 30% better efficiency than standard chokes, as well as good Hi-c CAP's and Japanese made solid capacitors with a claimed life-time of 10 years.

The motherboard has a lot connectivity on the rear IO panel. We spot two NEC based USB 3.0 connectors, next to the eight USB 2.0 ports located at the rear side. We spot Optical and Coaxial TOSLINK S/PDIF audio for eight-channel audio, PS2 mouse/keyboard connector, two eSATA connectors. We see one RJ-45 Ethernet jack supporting Gigabit LAN/WAN and the tiny black button is a clear CMOS switch.

When we flip the board around 90 degrees we stumble into the processor socket area, LGA1155 we'll take a closer look in a minute. Above you can also see a 8-pin CPU power header conveniently placed at the far side of the edge.
