On this page, you can observe the motherboard which will be paired with the Core i5 12400. Socket LGA1700 with that number meaning the number of pins means quite a bit of pin contact points right there. We use Z690 motherboards with the latest motherboard BIOS revisions. We paired this Core i5 12400 review with a Kingston Fury DDR5 kit, this is a DDR5-5200 CL40 memory kit based on two 16GB modules, making this an outstanding choice. The motherboard is thus the MSI MAG B660M Mortar WIFI. Our cooler used is the new Sapphire NITRO+ S240-A.

However, an essential aspect is the board itself, which is based on the new Intel B660 chipset and has a slew of advanced features that promise to be a high-performance model that leaves nothing on the table. The motherboard is equipped with big aluminum heatsinks over the power delivery, which should allow for adequate cooling of the electrical components underneath. System memory is provided by four DDR5 DIMM slots, each of which will support XMP overclocking and will support capacities of up to 128 GB.

MSI equips the B660M mortar with two PCIe x16 (Gen4 and Gen1) and one PCIe Gen 4.0 x1 slots. It contains two M.2 slots, each with its own thermal heatsink that is finished in the same brushed silver as the rest of the motherboard's design. The rear panel connector includes three USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A, one USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C, four USB 3.2 Gen 1 ports, HDMI, Display-Port, 2.5G Ethernet ports, and a WiFi 6E antenna (2x) & 7.1 channel audio jack array.

The PCH heatsink (chipset) is also covered with a silver palette and has the "Mortar" brand carved on the surface. In addition, there are six SATA III ports on the board. In addition, there is a high-end audio system installed on the isolated side of the PCB.

This mortar is equipped with a dual 8-pin connector that supplies power to the CPU socket, as well as a 12-phase digital power supply system consisting of an ISL99360F 60A SPS power stage, Dr.MOS MOSFET.

Inside the packaging, we find many accessories, including SATA cables, RGB extensions, a WiFi antenna, stickers.  The CPU is supplied with electricity through two 8pin 12V inputs that are tucked away in the corner of the mobo.
