We begin with our usual pages that show the ins and outs of this graphics card with photos, all taken with an in-house photo-shoot of course.  The ARMOR series is the more affordable product line, however, MSI did not gimp out on the overall design. Actually, for the 'base' product, MSI has a really nice offering here with that dark PCB, the cooler as well as a nice looking backplate on the backside.

The reason I like it because of the simple color tones with dark being dominant. I like that, but of course, taste differs per person, sure. The ARMOR edition of the GeForce RTX 2070 powered by NVIDIA's more modest offering in Turing, the A revision TU106 graphics processor. These cards are fitted with 8 GB GDDR6 memory running at an effective data rate of 14 Gbps. The product will sell for roughly 499 USD/euros (at least it should be in that range). We, however, expect the SKUs to run un a sub 550 EUR range due to limited stock availability.  The card is based upon a nice matte black PCB and uses two power headers (6 and 8-pin). The card is 309 x 155 x 50 mm and weighs in at 1.2 kg.

The ARMOR model has a dual-fan design. The card has one HDMI port and three DisplayPort connectors as well as a new virtual link connector for VR purposes. The GeForce RTX series has DisplayPort 1.4 connectors 1.4a Ready, enabling support for 8K displays at 60Hz. This card includes three DisplayPort connectors, one HDMI 2.0b connector, lacking and sorely missed is the dual-link DVI connector.

  • Boost: 1,620 MHz / Base: 1,410 MHz
  • Memory 14.0 Gbps GDDR6 (effective data-rate)
