We start with our photo-shoot. Two pages worth of photos then and all of them from our own photo-shoot.

Above you can see the packaging that holds the MSI GeForce GTX 980 Ti. The Lightning edition specifically, which comes with a faster standard clock frequency. The GM-200-310 GPU based graphics card comes with a custom PWM design, 12 GPU phases and another three memory power phases all plastered into a thick 10 layer PCB.

As you can see MSI has built a custom board that differs completely from the reference design, other then the GPU nothing original is left. Included in the package is the card, manual, driver CD, extended SLI cable, Voltage monitoring kit and an LN2 heatsink for the professional overclockers.

This Lighting series has higher factory clocks, the GPU core base clock is ticking at a 1203 MHz core GPU clock frequency with a 1304 MHz Boost frequency. The card is sized 330*140*53 mm and is on the heavy side due to that massive cooler and backplate, 1365 grams.

The card is 33cm in length with the cooler included, this means you will need to check first of your chassis has enough space for the cooler. The three fan based cooler has thick three 8mm heatpipes to transfer heat and then two more 6mm onces for that little extra. It does the job really at virtually no noise levels. And yes this enthusiast class graphics card is totally silent.

The memory of the Lighting is factory clocked a notch higher as well, at 7.1 GHz (effective data-rate) in the 6 GB GDDR5 memory partition. Overall MSI is keeping their traditional Lightning style in all black and yellow. Obviously the 10 layer PCB only holds the very best components like Hi-c CAP, Solid CAP, and New SFC components. And to answer your question/concerns, no there is no hearable coil noise.
