MSi releases an impressive series of cards with the TwinFrozr based 750 and 750 Ti. Perhaps for this entry level range it would even be a little overkill to have that much cooling power and design aesthetics for these sub 150 USD products. Then again, it looks kick-ass alright. Both the GeForce GTX 750 and 750 Ti are fun products anno 2014, though admittedly I like the 750 Ti the best by far. The greatest and impressive benefit of this card is the low energy consumption, and overall, the gain is that within its price level the performance went up a notch.

Performance

With the cards having a base-clock hovering at 1085 MHz you will be able to play games with the GTX 750 up-to 1600x1200 really well. 1080P is possible as well as long as you do not opt freaky image quality settings or the most demanding games. The Ti version on its end is a reasonably nice 1080P card that offers pretty solid framerates at that resolutions. But you again can't go wild on image quality settings, but it sure is a capable performer for the money. 

Cooling

As you have been able to see in our test sessions, the TwinFrozr cooler does its job really well. Both cards stay below 50 Degrees C and that is just great. Low temps often also mean low noise levels and that is the same here. You will not be able to hear the cooler at all. The product is virtually silent even under hefty game stress. And again, while it is stressed it will keep that GPU under 50 Degrees C as well so these are nice figures. 

Power Consumption

Typically high clock frequencies have an adverse effect on your power consumption, but at 28nm and a more energy friendly Maxwell GPU, these cards do not need a lot of voltage. So the product when it's stressed only consumes give or take 50 to 95 Watts for factory higher clocked products that the AIB and AIC partners. Average power consumption will sit at 50~60 Watts during gaming. In idle mode (desktop) that number is as low as 5 Watts. 

Overclocking

Both cards in most scenarios can be tweaked a little, the power limiter is maxed out, however a good 100 MHz extra on the GPU core frequency for both cards will not be an issue. By applying a notch extra voltage we actually noticed the card boosting well over 1300 MHz and at one point even noticed a 1376 MHz clock frequency (boost is dynamic so it can fluctuate a bit per game / level / stress etc). Memory wise both cards will pass 6 Gbps quite easily, and with the 128-bit memory bus being a limiting factor, overclocking on the memory will get you extra performance alright. Overall you'll gain another 10% in performance if you manage to do your tweaking right and if the card allows it of course. Drivers wise we can't complain at all, we did not stumble into any issues. 

Final Words

MSI did a terrific job with the Gaming OC edition of the 750 and 750 Ti. However in general, the GeForce GTX 750 is an okay card and the 750 Ti really is what you want to purchase as it has that little extra bite in performance (if you have a low budget). Overall we feel that the 128-bit memory bus is limiting the graphics memory bandwidth pretty badly. And that shows in performance. You as a consumer will have to forfeit on image quality settings to make the modern games perform well enough at a monitor resolution of 1920x1080. The cards will run with good image quality settings up-to 1600x1200, after that resolution you'll find yourself making compromises on image quality in order to gain in rendering performance. The cards are versatile and progressive when it comes to features and options. As stated, the Gaming OC editions from MSI are terrific in design, probably a bit too good for a simple GPU as the 750 series really is. The 750 Ti remains my personal favourite and MSI made sure you can tweak it as well. Just add another 100 Mhz on the core and you will notice the boost frequency pass 1300 even 1350 MHz.  That's not bad a a brand new GPU architecture. MSi does so by keeping the temps and noise levels cool. Pricing will dictate the popularity of the 750 cards, and we'll just have to wait and see what the street prices will do exactly. Expect a card like the Gamer OC GTX 750 Ti to hover at 150 EUROs though. We can definitely recommend both cards with my personal preference being the GeForce GTX 750 Ti. For the more casual and generic gamers at 1080P, we do recommend to look at graphics cards that are a notch faster, a 760 or high will do just fine.
