As we always do, we start with packaing. The cooler is packaged well, cushioned and bundled safely in a recognizable MSI design packaging and box.

Once unboxed you'll spot the cooling unit consisting of the heatsink assembly, fan and brackets + back and base plate that supports a very wide range of AMD and Intel processors. A little thermal paste is included as well.

The weight of the cooler including fan sits at 960 grams and it only comes with four 8 mm heatpipes that deliver heat to the  aluminum fins. BTW look at the photo - I like how detailed stuff like studs, screws etc are placed neatly into the box.

The cooler as standard comes with a metal/chrome/silver colored top plate, you'll also receive a black one which you can swap out. Which was the first thing that we did do :)

Here we have the unit with the now black top plate. The dragon logo is LED lit btw. You'll receive one fan, however an extra set of retention brackets have been included for a second fan in push pull configuration.

Above, the cooler placed on its back, we can see the cooling block. Running through it are four copper heat pipes (8mm) arranged in a U-shaped design with the fan located at the opposing side in the middle. The pure copper fins effectively disperse heat away from the CPU via composite heat pipes. The fan is a Hydro-Dynamic Bearing PWM-version which has airflow-optimised fan blades. The unit fan spins at 500 - 1800 ±15% RPM with PWM control, pushing 19.79 - 71.27 CFM of air, creating 0.16 - 2.09 mm of air pressure, and making up to 17.2 ~ 33.6 dBA of noise.
