Final words and conclusion

The CLUTCH GM31 series is a nice mid-range, simple, straight-to-the-point, but quite small gaming mouse. Its ergonomic design is optimal for the palm (but it’s not optimal for that), claw, and fingertip grip styles. Here, six buttons are available, from which five are programmable. Not too many, but it should be enough in most cases (as long as you’re not a MOBA player or something). Each of them uses the mechanical (responsive and tactile) Omron switches. You get the 12K DPI sensors; PMW-3360 in the wired version and the PAW-3311 in the wireless edition. It’s a lightweight mouse (58 and 73 g) with excellent battery life (up to 110h, according to MSI, and in reality, it was about 100h w/o the lighting and 60h with it). The battery is possible to be charged via the bundled magnetic charging dock.

The wireless receiver can be hidden in the charging dock for the wireless version. The connection is made via 2.4G RF wireless technology. Due to the lack of a Bluetooth connection, connecting more than one device at a time is impossible. The sensor responds very well, with no noticeable interpolation or angle snapping. There are rubberized grips on the sides instead of plastic ones, and they serve their purpose very well.
The buttons provide great feedback when pressed and offer an excellent response. You won’t find multiple RGB zones here, with the only available one as an MSI logo. It can still be adjusted in the MSI Center software.

Conclusion

For 69.99 $/69.99€ (wireless version), you get a solid mid-tier, 12K DPI gaming mouse aimed at players who want functionality over lighting effects (because here, you’ll get only the logo lit up). The wired edition is cheaper (and weighs not 73, but 58 g). Thanks to its very modest design, it’s a comfortable mouse for daily usage. According to the MSI, the battery life is excellent and can go up to 110 hours; in reality, it was around 100h.
The build quality and ergonomics of the MSI Clutch GM31 Wireless are solid. The USB receiver can be easily hidden, which is an advantage. Very light RGB here (one zone in the DPI button area, but it still can be controlled via MSI Center software), but that’s not a drawback. If you’d like more, there are other MSI products, for example, the GM41 series, aimed at players with bigger hands (which has a better 20K DPI sensor). What more could you request? The MSI Center application should be improved. Due to the lack of a Bluetooth connection, connecting more than one device at a time is impossible.
What you get is a complete and agile gaming mouse. That’s an “Approved” award, as it’s a product of very solid quality and performance. It should fit the specific needs of most users who don’t crave a lot of RGB or an extraordinary design but want a lightweight (73g for the wireless version and 58g for the wired one) mouse with a very good-performing sensor.
