When we place the motherboard at an angle we see the rather familiar socket LGA1151. It will support Coffee Lake procs, these are referred to as the 8th generation Core series processors. The board has an 8-pin power header for the processor.

Storage ports then -- Gigabyte is even equipping the board with six SATA3 ports. There's no fuzz anymore with U2 or SATA Express connectors.

Here we see that a bit better. Just a proper six SATA3 6Gbps ports, alongside two M.2 slots (one at full speed) that have been tucked away close to the upper PCI-Express slots. See that in the photo below.

There are two M.2 SSD slots available, one 10cm type 2242/2260/2280/2210 at a full x4 PCIe and one 8cm type 2260/2280/22110 slots at x2 PCIe. So only the shielded one is delivering up to 32 Gb/s data transfer speed per connector. There is one restriction though, M2 is shared with the PCIe E3 slot, so if you want to go full speed M2 at x4 PCIe lanes, the secondary PCIe x16 slot will be used for that. It is budget B3690, some compromises need to be made.

As mentioned on the previous page the board supports single, dual channel with support up-to DDR4 2667 and starts at 2133 MHz memory modules. 4 x DDR4 DIMM sockets can sport up-to 64 GB of system memory.
