Introduction

MSI 785GM-G65

In the re- and e-tail segments MSI has been paving the way really well for AMD based product. And they should as such products are often loaded with value for money.

Recently AMD released the AMD 785 chipset - offering full support for the latest Athlon and Phenom II processors, DDR3 memory and a bucket load of features. Next to that the chipset we have tucked away on the motherboard tested today has an embedded Radeon HD 4200 IGP as it is the 785G chipset. It's actually the latest embedded update offering really good and nice Home Theater PC functionality as it's fully capable of accelerating and post-processing high-definition content.

This chipset was introduced so that you can purchase a motherboard for like 80 to 90 USD, yet have a plethora of features and maximum performance. The only thing where it lacks a tiny little bit is enthusiast overclocking. And since massive 'hardcore' overclocking does not apply for like 98% of you... this might be a very interesting platform from a price-performance strategy point of view.

Now we are bringing you this review in co-operation with MSI, it's their 785GM-E65 motherboard, and this piece of kit  is stuffed and loaded with features, looks nice and remains very affordable. Let's have a peek at the chipset, and then obviously the MSI  motherboard, followed by an in-depth performance review to see if the chipset can keep up with that sexy AMD 790 series.

Have a peek and then onwards to the next page please.
