Testing the mouse

Reviewing a mouse is a bit tricky (almost like with audio devices). Normally, I use a Logitech G903 (which is also wireless), and you have to remember that I have very big palms. I really liked the experience with the 67. It is quite light (at 67 g), medium-sized (but good enough for my hands), and should be very satisfying for most users.

As you can see, the advertised polling rate (1000 Hz) is achieved and stays close to the value that the manufacturer declares.
For gaming tests, I’ve used:

  • PUBG,
  • Battlefield 1,
  • Call of Duty: WW2

The grip is very good, but you need to remember that you should use the palm and claw grip styles here. The weight is very low, and it does help sometimes. The Mountain Makalu 67 did very well in all scenarios because it’s very responsive. The two long side buttons are easily reachable. You need to remember that there are six buttons in total, and every one of them is programmable in Base Camp software from Mountain. The main buttons are very nice and responsive. The PixArt PAW3390 is excellent. We found that we didn’t have to go any further than 3200 DPI for our gaming needs. The lift-off distance is very good, and movements register very well. We did not encounter any undesirable phenomena in the tests or when gaming (such as the pointer moving by itself), and the level of precision is very high. The sensor responds great, with no noticeable interpolation or angle snapping. DPI selection works nice and fast: you simply click the DPI button, and that’s it. The four little LED lights indicate your current DPI selection.

Regarding the lighting effects, there is only one “zone” for that (around the wheel), and you can adjust it by pressing the side button and turning the scroll wheel to change the RGB setting directly! The RGB has been executed well enough here, but the best effect is achieved when a single colour is selected. As for the drawbacks – for sure some of you won’t like the ribcage design with a partially exposed interior also you can the distinctive LED spots.

[UPDATE]

According to the manufacturer the following changes has been introduced in the time between the initial testings and when the white version has been delivered:

  • The RGB lighting has been finalized (no distinctive LED spots
  • The final structure for maximum stability, including side buttons (no lateral movement)
  • 5-degree angle strain relief for no cable interference and drag
Regarding the first point, we'll try to show the difference by using two pictures:

The first picture is dark, but it's on purpose because, in a better light, the RGB bar wasn't clearly seen (due to the white color of the body) as you can see.

When using a single color it's more visible. Regarding the other points - our black sample was already very rigid (so it's really hard to tell the difference) and as for the cable adjustments - it was also hard to tell the difference in the test environment, but in other situations that can most probably help.
