Final words and conclusion

The Mountain Makalu 67 is an excellent gaming mouse. You wouldn’t believe that someone can get it so right in their first “stab” at the gaming market. Yes, that’s Mountain’s first product in the gaming mice department! The design is good both for the claw and palm grip styles. There are six buttons here at your disposal. Not too many, but it should be enough in most cases (as long as you’re not a MOBA player or something). You get the new 19 K DPI PAW3370 sensor, which performs great. One advantage is the weight achieved due to the ribcage design, which some users won’t like, as the interior is partially exposed. On the other hand, the water-repellent PCB coating should ensure durability. The ABS mold is of really high quality.

You won’t find multiple RGB zones here, with only one available. It can still be adjusted in Mountain’s Base Camp software. The two main buttons provide nice feedback when pressed and offer an excellent response. Omron's switches have an MTBF of 50 million clicks, so nothing to complain about here. As you have observed in the review, the manufacturer is constantly working on the updates. For example, the latest ones were the RGB upgrade (the lighting points are not visible anymore, that also applies to the black version), body upgrade (more rigid, for maximum stability), and 5-degree angle strain relief for no cable interference and drag. That's great that Mountain is pursuing greatness; we really love it.

Conclusion

For 59.99 USD/59.99 EUR, you get a higher-end, 19 K DPI gaming mouse that is aimed at players who want comfort and functionality over lighting effects. There is some RGB here (the zone around the scroll wheel with 8 individually addressable LEDs), which you can easily adjust, but this is not the selling point for sure. The build quality and ergonomics of the Mountain Makalu 67 are great. The performance is silky smooth. What you get is a complete and very agile gaming mouse. That’s a “Recommended” award, as it’s a product that should fit the needs of gamers (but it’s also comfortable for daily use, of course). For your first gaming product, that’s a fantastic job, Mountain. Keep it up! We can see a lot of work and ideas done right. There’s also a visible pursuit to make things even better. For example, the software is constantly updated, and you can really see the difference. As mentioned before, with a recent update, there were also the RGB, body, and cable upgrades applied in the time between receiving the first black sample and the second white one. That's great! The only drawback (only for some of you) could be the ribcage design, but it wasn’t an issue for us.
