In this article, we review the Mountain Makalu 67 mouse. It’s a lightweight optical gaming mouse with the new Pixart PAW3370 sensor allowing up to 19 K DPI. The manufacturer is German. Makalu is the fifth highest mountain globally at 8,485 meters (27,838 ft) and is considered one of the most difficult mountains in the world to climb. The Makalu 67 is definitely targeted at gamers, but it should also work more than fine as a regular mouse. This time, the optical sensor is the 19K DPI PAW3370, which has a shallow lift distance of 1 to 2 mm, and a 50% lower error rate than the PMW3389. One of the main features of this mouse is the weight. According to the manufacturer, it’s about 67 g +/- 2 g (without the cable). This is a small mouse in a form factor that still fits medium to large hands. The water-repellent PCB coating ensures durability. The two primary buttons are fitted with Omron 50M switches, which should bring great reliability. There’s also a dedicated DPI button and 4 indicator LEDs. Regarding the lighting, you’ve got 16.7 million colors and numerous RGB modes at your disposal. You get individual RGB lighting for each of the 8 LEDs in the ring, add you can save your favorite configs in up to 5 profiles in the Makalu 67’s internal memory.

The Makalu 67 has six buttons that can be remapped or set to custom macros. Last but not least – the PTFE feet are easily removable, and you get a spare set. The Mountain Makalu 67 is available at $59.99/€59.99. The warranty is 2 years, so that’s pretty standard. Is this product worth its price, given the provided features and functionality?
