Performance

DX11: Battlefield 4

Battlefield 4 is built on the Frostbite 3 engine. The Frostbite engine enables more realistic environments with higher resolution textures and particle effects. A new "networked water" system is also being introduced, allowing all players in the game to see the same wave at the same time.

Our test run has enabled:

  • DX11
  • Ultra mode
  • 2x / 4x MSAA Enabled
  • 16x AF enabled
  • HBAO enabled
  • Level: Reach the VIPs

So with enarly the same image quality, MFAA offers better performance. At 1280x720 (HD Ready) however we close in at some CPU limitation. But overall we are looking at 4xMSAA quality yet have gained 10% in performance, that is a rather average result TBH.

DX11: Crysis 3

The game is daunting from a graphics point of view. Crysis 3, we apply everything. Image quality settings:

  • DirectX 11
  • Very High Quality settings
  • 2x / 4x MSAA Enabled
  • Welcome to the Jungle level

If we focus on 2560x1440 (WHQD) for a second, then you will notice that we have gained almost 20% in performance while retaining the same image quality levels. It seems that MFAA works really nicely in intensive GPU bound situations.
