I was happy with the weapon selection in this game, as you were treated to both American and Japanese gun technology.

One thing that this game has a problem with that really bugged me dealing with weapons is the actual killing of your enemies. When you are about to nail someone from a distance in most shooters, you will probably know that they are going to die if you have the aim dead on. In this game, due to a mixture of various performance issues and other things, it is actually somewhat hard to tell if you are going to hit your enemy. You will probably end up unloading the rest of your clip into the general direction of the enemy, for assurance. It's a rather hard phenomena to explain and it's something you can really only understand if you play it yourself. I do not think that this was to be intentional, as it is just outright annoying.

But hey, what about your good pals fighting alongside of you? Are they there just for emotional chatter? Or can they help you waste a serious amount of enemies? As it was stated before in this review, the character development and emotional attachment to your squad is one of the high points of this game, something I really haven't experienced in too many first person shooters. Other than that though, your team mates really aren't too good at killing off enemies. They will kill some bad guys, but you will kill 90% of the baddies. This makes sense in a certain aspect I suppose, as YOU are playing the game, but it would have been nice if your team had a little more input into whether you made it out alive or not. You are given four commands that you can tell your team, but I never ended up using any of them, ever. A lot of the times when you wanted to give a command, for some reason you just weren't able to. The squad is fun to play with and certainly brings out the emotional and dramatic aspects of this game. However, it would have been nice if their A.I. was a bit more developed.

Enemies and their A.I.
Well unfortunately for you, the enemy A.I. is quite up to par, if not better than today's gaming standards. If they are aware of your presence and you are not aware of theirs, be prepared to be surrounded and ambushed from all directions baby. I observed that the A.I. was very good at taking cover, spreading out and working as a team.

This makes it even harder for you and your rather dumb crew. But hey, its war.

Overall the gameplay is a mix of really intense situations (and sometimes really boring situations) and smart enemies trying to pick you off, with your iron-sighted aim backed by your rather stupid acting squad who you unavoidably have an emotional attachment to. Overall, the gameplay is nothing exceedingly new, but it is fun, challenging, and enjoyable most of the time.
