I am a Mafia nut. I love the movies. I love the Italian food. I love the way they speak. I love how they cook food. And hey, the chicks dig 'em. So when I heard that there was a new Mafia game coming out, I was about as happy as one man craving Italian spicy sauces could get. There is always a downfall though. Just like the movies, why in the living hell, do they ALWAYS make me so hungry! So sit back and enjoy the read. Pop in Goodfellas in the 2nd computer DVD, and take a journey with me to the lands of the true genre of Mafia. The 1930's.

From the very get go, Mafia starts off like a movie. The music is incredible. But while the voice acting fits the genre, it really could have used a little work on how to not be so monotone. We start off the story going through some credits, some fly by's of the city in which you are going to spend your time. Leading into a restaurant (SHOCK), where our hero/villain sits down to tell his story of what he knows about a certain crime family, the Salieri's. Basically this is a simple historical shot. What happens is a brief introduction, and than as he flashes back to tell the story of his rise to power, you play out those missions. For example, he might say, "It all started out one day when I was taking a break from driving a taxi..." The next thing you know, your first mission is to drive two of Salieri's henchman to their hideout before they get whacked by a rival family in the city. From there, you play through each mission as the story is being relayed to the detective.

"Hey... This looks just like Salieri's bar... WAIT... IT IS. Wonder what they would say if they knew I was ratting them out"
