The LG 34UM67 Freesync Monitor
The LG 34UM67 IPS Monitor
So we received a FreeSync capable monitor a week or so ago. It is the LG 34UM67 (75Hz). Let me first state that the model we received is a final retail sample.
The new 34UM67 offers a rather sizable 34" display and will be the first of its kind of feature support for AMD's new FreeSync adaptive refresh rate technology. Thanks to the 178-degree viewing angle of the In-Plane Switching (IPS) display which recreates colors across over 99 percent of the sRGB color space, there is no color distortion at any angle.
- Size: 32in Resolution: 2560x1080
- 75Hz Panel: IPS
- Response time 14ms
- 1x DVI, 1x DP 1.2a, 2x HDMI
- Speakers built-in 2x7W
- Power Consumption 48W
- LED Backlit
A quick note, if you like to purchase a FreeSync monitor then make sure your Radeon graphics card is compatible, initially the 280 / 290 series only and from our understanding starting in April more models will be supported. We do assume you got the proper gear already. The monitor arrives in a large, full colour box.
So a IPS screen might not be our favorite type of panel for its slower speed compared to TN, but it is a way better looking display. One nice advantage is that the monitor is 75 Hz capable, and as such we will test it at that (now maximum dynamic) refresh rate.
The monitor has an acclaimed 14ms response time. Built with ABS plastic, this monitor adorns the characteristic LG gaming identity with that trendy see-through foot. The LG 34UM67 includes HDMI , DVI, and DisplayPort connectors.
