So above you can see the Core i7 7740X. The base clock frequency of this processor is 4.3 GHz with a Turbo up-to 4.5 GHz. They have a 112 Watt TDP, which is on the high side if you take into account that the similar 7700K is at 91 Watt.

But lets focus on the hardware, yeah meet LGA2066, that is quite a bit of pin contact points right there. X299 motherboards paired with Kaby- or Skylake-X processors share the very same socket.

Intel uses its traditional socket mounting system that you know from the X99 platform. An advantage here is that you can re-use your old cooler as the socket mounting itself has remained the same. However, this entire generation processors run hotter under load, hence we recommend a proper and modern cooling setup like an LCS (liquid cooling) kit.
