Final Words & Conclusion

Final words and conclusion

AS IF the reference GTX 580 was not fast enough just yet, Inno3D made it a little faster :)

The new SKU that NVIDIA provided to its board partners definitely seems to live up to the initial promises. Excellent, truly excellent performance... I mean only Dual-GPU solutions can beat the card tested today. Meanwhile heat remains under control and the card isn't noisy either, that's just great.

If you take a reference baseline GTX 480 and compare it to this product we already have 25% faster performance. Of course any game to date will play fine at the highest resolutions with a minimum of 4x Anti-aliasing enabled and the very best image quality settings. The latest titles will play perfectly on just one card, the true definitive benchmark however is Crysis WarHEAD in Enthusiast mode. That setting crippled any last generation card once you enabled it. At 1920x1200 at 2xAA and high quality settings in that Enthusiast gaming mode, this Inno3D OC edition GTX 580 still pushes out an average framerate of 40 FPS, so this is the first single GPU solution that actually allows decent game play in what typically is horror for any GPU.

Overclocking wise, we see impressive stuff, we got a tad higher than the reference clocks and internally we've already been testing voltage tweaks. So without it, this card should do 850 on the core perfectly fine. Voltage tweaked we can actually reach well over 900 MHz, 950 MHz is not unthinkable at all. With voltage tweaks your temperatures and power consumption will spiral out of control real fast though, but that's the choice you make.

Alright, time to round up this review. The Inno3D GeForce GTX 580 is a card that is very impressive. It is the fastest single GPU based graphics card we tested to date. The only thing that can ruin NVIDIA's all new release will be AMD's upcoming Cayman (Radeon HD 6970). The performance and pricing of that card is still an unknown. Anyway, if priced right and if it falls within your budget, then we do like to recommend it, but the 479 EUR (499 USD) price tag will scare away many people.

Regardless of pricing, it is a top notch card offering grand performance while this time around the other variables like noise and heat are well under control. Keep in mind that a spicy graphics card needs a spicy PC as well, make sure you have enough CPU horsepower under the hood, a proper PSU and hey any decent modern age quad-core processor will do just fine.

We expect that Inno3D is able to launch this product for merely a tenner more, and that's money well invested as you receive a guaranteed warranty covered faster factory clocked product straight out of the box. The Inno3D GeForce GTX 580 is a lovely card that comes very much recommended.
