Final Words & Conclusion

HIS outs a lovely card on the market in terms of power consumption, heat levels and the extremely low noise levels. But let's get one thing out of the way first, the R7750 is not a gaming card unless you are stuck at a monitor resolution of 1280x1024 that is. Only if you drop on image quality a lot only then we'd say you could play a modern game at 1600x1200 at best.

This card however might be a excellent HTPC graphics card. The video engine is extremely good, use the shader processors to post process and meanwhile you have a 109 USD card that remains very silent with excellent temperatures.

HIS Radeon HD 7750

The architecture is sound and solid though. And honestly for the recommended street price of $109 USD this is a fun card. Now we do expect to see prices drop significantly real soon, as AMD did overprice these cards. Once they reach 80 USD we feel everything will balance out.

Now the 7750 board under full load consumes roughly 40~50 Watts when gaming. In idle, roughly 10 Watts, and when your monitor shuts down it will throttle down even further towards 3 Watts. That's impressive stuff.

So if prices drop a bit then the Radeon 7750 will be a decent entry level product, but remember .. this won't be a gaming wonder alright. For that the next best thing will be the upcoming Radeon 7800 series release.

The HIS card overall was pleasant to work with, it was a completely stable product to test and the overall design is good. The icing on top of the cake is the iCooler. You have to forfeit on the single slot design, but really that's more than worth it as the cooler works quite well and is virtually inaudible, the way we like it alright.

Overclocking wise we ran out of time to fully test that, but be aware of the fact that you can gain another 10% performance quite easily. The AMD overdrive limit is set at 900 MHz though. We recommend you to grab AfterBurner and enable the unofficial overclocking mode, allowing up-to 1040 MHz on the core.

Overall 950 to 1000 MHz should be quite do-able. Please be aware that this card does not support any form of voltage tweaking though.

For those that noticed it, correct .. the card 7750 cards do not come with a Crossfire connector. However you can place two cards in multi-GPU mode yet CFX signal data transmitting will travel over the PCI Express bus.

Alright, last words then. You'll need to position the R7750 properly inside you mind to acknowledge what it really is intended for. It will allow gaming at a budget level in the lower resolutions, but overall for desktop usage and HTPC usage, this card might be worth it's money quite well -- but we do feel that the prices will need to come down first -- if you can spot it at 80 to 90 USD, then we think it's a good deal.
