With a HTPC you'll need optimal cooling, especially with a slimline chassis like this air is very hard to move around unless you use really noisy fans. So don't forget the smaller things like to apply a little thermal paste. A little drop is enough.

Now grab some plastic, wrap it around your finger and smear out that thermal paste evenly over the processor surface.

There is one more thing you need to buy, the cooler. This is the Hiper HFC-20820-C1 (25), sold separately. I highly recommend Hipers cooling, as coolers such as this one are very rare. Typically we see these cooling blocks in 1U servers, and trust me when i say.. the server versions make a lot more noise. And at 25 this is not a bad deal for that huge copper block. This model is silent as well.

Installing the cooler is a snap. We remove the AMD plastic retention bracket, place the copper block on top of the CPU and secure it with four screws. Only 60 seconds work, tops.
