Reservoir & Pump

Reservoir (Dogs) We'll call this component Mr. Black ;) Hey it's simple, you need a water reservoir to hold enough coolant, this is it. The reservoir is placed closely next to the pump and is made of plastic. The reservoir is a clear Plexiglass cylinder that holds roughly 65 ml of liquid. On top is a small thumb-screw that allows venting air or removal of the cap to fill up the reservoir with water.

You need to fill it with distilled water, it will prevent growth from bacteria & algae etc.

The Pump
I know you think you've seen this one before... and you are right as it's the same model used in the Asetek article. This is
a Hydor pump that can pump around 700 liters of water per hour, that's 12 liters per minute. That's quite efficient, still there is an L30 version that can handle 20 liters per minute. When you start up the pump for the first time don't be scared, it'll be noisy as it removes air from the water circuit.

Last week h2o also shipped in the brand new Plexi Eheim 600 pump, which is just remarkable to see. It's going to be shipped to the USA standard with h2o cases instead of the Hydor pump. This pump is available with a 110v plug for the USA and 230v plug for Europe.

Now get this, the pump actually is placed in a reservoir filled with the liquid/cooling solution. As inside the reservoir it absorbs more noise it's more quiet and hey, you do not need the extra reservoir and thus save additional space which is hard to find in a PC case. We tested the pump, and recommend it over the Hydor pump (which is good also).

The reservoir is made of what is called degussa-plexiglas and the attached Eheim Compact 600 submergible pump transports 600l of water/h. The 1/4" plugs allows you to attach all of the other h2o products. As stated the vibrations given off by the pump are actually absorbed by the reservoir. Nice little detail, since water-cooling is a bit of a prestige thing also, the reservoir provides four 5mm LED holes on top.

Despite it's compact and noise killing design this baby can pump roughly 600 liters of water per hour which is more than sufficient for our case.

The Plexi Eheim 600 pump we received additionally last week. A far better pump as it's a little more quiet and it performs about the same as the Hydor pump below. As you can see the pump is placed inside the reservoir as it's submergible, so clever.

What you see here is the Hydor pump and reservoir.

Oh and the green stuff... FlowGlow baby, can you feel the soul ?
