9. What's the best part of your rig?

I think that is a tie between the cable management system and the watercooling loop, with the cable management system having a slight lead. I always enjoy filling a system with fluid as you can see in the video. It is extremely rewarding to finally be able to power on a build that you have worked on for so long.

10. Any dislikes, things you should not have bought?

The only dislike I have with the build is the small ssd. It was the only one I had lying around in red at the time when I put the whole thing together, and I was short on time for the final shots. It has later been upgraded to a 512 gb ssd instead, as I wanted to move from win 7 to windows 10, so it was easy to swap out one of the drives.

11. Did you modify anything ?  cases/video cards/other? Did you do it yourself? Walk us through it.

I think it is easier to ask what did I not modify. The case itself has had a lot of the panels recut and painted to better fit the components. The radiators is turned in such a way that you cannot see any ports from the inside of the case, and there is also a lot of holes that had to be made in the rear and bottom plates that had to be a dead on fit.

Then I completely custom made my own cable system. This was the single feature that took the longest time to make. I had to remake each and every wire, and cut them to the correct length within 5 mm max, as more would make them look way too long, and less would make so that they did not fit. For this I custom made a cable connection plate that sits on the motherboard plate of the case, and has numbers engraved into it that shows where each cable should be routed to. This also took a while to get correct in 3D, and the holes are so tight that you first have to put sleeving trough, and then put the wire trough the sleeving. Many people choose the easy way and just make the holes way to big, but I really like it this way. Also because it keeps the wire firmly in place.

Another thing was the rear watercooling distributing plate. I have gotten a lot of people asking if it is a “reservoir” and it is not really. The system has an internal reservoir, and the rear block serves as a huge piece routing the fluid from one component to another. Instead of having all the tubing on the inside of the case.

12. Your 3DMark scores

I cannot remember. I really just ran it once for fun, and never again. I am not the biggest “benchmark” fan as I do not think it represents the reality when actually gaming. I focus more on having a rock solid system that can easily be monitored. This is also where the aquaero comes in, as it feeds all the info I need onto my secondary monitor. As the system draws 610W under full load, it is good to see how all that heat is taken care of.

13. Do you have any future updates planned ?

Beside the 512 gb ssd, the only upgrade I have planned is to switch the power supply out for a hx100i, and then throw two titan x in the system to replace the two 980 TI´s. The rest of the build should be plenty powerful to last me a few years.

14. Does your rig or mod have a name ?

I call it the “Engineering Station” as that is what it was build for. I know a lot of people asks me why I did not go with a quadro card if I am using it for engineering, but since I also want to play on it, a quadro is out of the question, and the assemblies I work in is not large enough to warrant an expensive quadro card.
