Guru3D Rig of the Month - May 2013 -
Page 4
9. What's the best part of your rig?
Hard to say, I'm very pleased with the atheistics of the rig overall. It’s the subtleties that I enjoy the most, the clean internal look and the curves that appear in every section of the case. The white cabling and tubing stand out really well on the black panels and the illuminations really show off the nickel blocks & fittings. My favourite part has to be the roof window though, that view on a BTX’ed case puts the GPU’s EK Acrylic Top on show like it deserves!
10. Any dislikes, things you should not have bought?
I am proud to say, Nothing! But it’s quite a different look to get used to, after having a more ‘flashy’ shiny Thermaltake for a while.
11. Did you modify anything ? cases/video cards/other? Did you do it yourself? Walk us through it.
The TJ has undergone quite a bit of modding, all of which is ‘hand crafted’ no laser cutting etc. After BTX-ing it, I cut and ‘bent’ metal sheets to form drive bay covers, a new floor / lower department cover, and a new motherboard tray. Fan, cabling, and tubing holes were then cut after tackling the issue of secure mounting. A roof window was added (again hand cut & filed Perspex to leave a flush finish), and a new window had to be cut for the side panel too as it was BTX’ed. That just left the front of the case, after much deliberation, I decided to fit a hinged door to give easy access to the HDD cages that stand behind it, which also resulted in a clean flush look at the front. I also fitted a lil’ fan controller in place of the front panel connectors, far more useful and pretty neat too.
12. Your 3DMark scores
- GPU: 15768
- CPU: 25092
- 3D Mark Score: 17383
13. Do you have any Future updates planned ?
As I plan to be heading off to Uni in September, I don’t expect to have much money kicking about for a few years which is why a hardware update might be expected in the summer, but I haven’t put too much thought into that. The little things, however, I’m keen to mount an LCD of some sort in the front of the case so I might get hold of a Matrix Orbital to finish that off. I’m also keen to fit hot swappable bays into the front of the case, which would make life a lot easier and neater.
14. Does your rig or mod have a name ?
