4. How much money did you spend on the rig as it is right now
?

That depends on what you call the ‘rig’ since it’s actually two computers built in the wall. The air-cooled system did cost me around eur.2000,- but that’s including a widescreen monitor my girlfriend definitely wanted for her system. The water-cooled system ended up around eur.5650,- (ouch).I spent waaaaaaaaaaayy too much money. But since it took me 4 years to build it I had time to save.

5. How often do you update/buy a new rig?

Not often, it has been six years since a major upgrade. My 3770k was built in an ancient Antec P180 case and ran very well for years.

6. What components are used?

The air-cooled system is made of the following:

- Case: Silverstone Fortress FT-03-mini Silver
- Power supply: Corsair SF-450
- Motherboard: AsRock Z370M-ITX/AC
- Processor: i5 8600K
- Memory: Corsair Vengeance 16GB
- Cooler: Noctua NH-Lx65
- HD: Samsung 960 EVO 250GB
- Display: Samsung C34H890WJU
- DVIGear 7.5m displayport cable
- Club3D Active repeater USB 3.0 cable

an additional 140mm Noctua 1200RPM fan blows air from the bottom of the cabinet.

The water-cooled system is a bit more extreme:

- Case: plywood and MDF with white carbon wrap-foil and hardened glass.
- Power supply: Corsair HX850i
- Motherboard: Gigabyte X399 Aorus Xtreme
- Processor: AMD Ryzen Threadripper 2950X
- Memory: Corsair Vengeance RGB 3200 32GB
- HD: Samsung 970 EVO 1TB & Samsung 970 500GB
- Display: Samsung U32H850
- DVIGear 7.5m displayport cable
- Club3D Active repeater USB 3.0 cable
- aquacomputer Farbwerk LED controller with 2x RGB & 1x UV LED strip
- Cooling:
- radiator: EK coolstream-ce-420
- fans: 3x Noctua NF-P14S redux 1200 PWM, but two Noctua NF-A14 industrialPPC- 3000-PWM fans are ordered to keep the system in check.
- Reservoir and pump: Singularity Protium D5, reservoir is 200mm.
- CPU block: XSPC raystorm black chrome
- GPU block: EK Vector RTX2080 RGB Nickel + Plexi plus backplate
- Mayhems X1 clear coolant
- tubes: 12mm petg hard tubing and 16/10 EK matte black soft tubing to connect the radiator
