9. What's the best part of your rig?

Definitely the case. With the extension it's the perfect balance of performance, cooling potential & size for my needs. It also looks fantastic. Parvum are a small 2 person UK company, so I'm also pleased to be supporting a great little outfit that has taken an innovative approach to meeting the modding community's needs. They are quite unique in that they are made from acrylic, and flat packed so you build them yourself!

10. Any dislikes, things you should not have bought?

No, not any dislikes. I did have to compromise vs. my previous builds and drop down to single GPU for the first time since the GeForce 6800 series! Still GPU's are so powerful these days that they can hold their own up to 2560x1440 so I don't feel I've lost out overall.

11. Did you modify anything ?  cases/video cards/other? Did you do it yourself? Walk us through it.

This is probably the one build that I have done the least modifications too! I had to drill holes in the floor to mount the res, and dremmel a cut away to run the aquabus cable back to the fan controller. I also had to work out away to create my own SSD/DVD-ROM caddy from 0.5mm aluminium as the tubing around the back of the case made the original SSD mounts unusable, and the DVD had no mounts as standard. The other modifications were done by Justin at Parvum himself. The case is 60mm longer than a standard S2.0 for a triple rad in the roof, they added a slot in the front for a slot loading optical drive, the floor/midwall is red frosted acrylic rather than the usual solid black to enable me to back light it with a nicely finished cable routing hole to run cables under the floor. They also added an extra couple of tubing holes which were essential for passing tubing between the midwall. I will be braiding the PSU cables with paracord over the next couple of weeks as the current extensions I've used take up a lot of space in such a small case which makes cabling a nightmare. I also think the paracord will just add a nicer overall finish

12. Your 3DMark scores

  • 3dMark Firestrike: 10256 Extreme: 5263
  • 3dMark 11: P14361 Extreme: X5060

13. Do you have any Future updates planned ?

Yes. As I mentioned my 2600k is over 3 years old now. I will definitely be upgrading CPU/motherboard & memory to Haswell-E platform once it's out. That will make this build a truly powerful PC in a small space!

14. Does your rig or mod have a name ?

I gave this project the working title of "Micro but Mighty" as I felt it got the idea across of getting as much power in a small space with little compromise.
