The backside of the board has a backplate, Gigabyte claims for better thermal conductivity, especially the VRM should see another 10% thermal reduction. When we place the motherboard at an angle we see the AMD Socket sTRX4. It will support only Ryzen Threadripper 3000 series (and newer), processors. The memory DIMM slots have been reinforced with metal shielding. As stated on the previous page it supports single, dual and quad-channel with support up-to DDR4 4400 (O.C.) and starts at 2133 MHz memory modules. 8 x DDR4 DIMM sockets can sport up to 256 GB of system memory. There are some normal-sized and micro buttons available to be able to power on and reset directly from the motherboard. You'll also spot embedded, and included a LED strip header. The chipset is cooled with an active fan, however, this fan could not be heard during our testing.
