Gigabyte Radeon 4850 1 GB - GVR485OC

Product: Radeon HD 4850 1GB
Manufacturer: Gigabyte
SKU code: GV-R485OC-1GH
Information: website
Street price: 199 USD \ 165 EUR

Ever since AMD's ATI released their RV770 GPUs that you guys know and love for the Radeon HD 4850/4870 products, it was a hit. We are roughly six weeks after the launch and the first board partners and vendors are releasing new SKUs based on that chip. We finally see some more product differentiation in the form of different PCB design, overclocked editions, special cooled versions and versions with different memory configurations.

Today we are testing such a product, it's in the reasonably priced graphics card segment, it has a custom PCB (printed circuit board), comes with no less than 1 Gigabyte of GDDR3 framebuffer (memory), the manufacturer slapped a Zalman cooler on top of it and to finish it off they even overclocked it. It's the stuff we life and breathe for here at Guru3D.com, definitely worth our time checking out I'd say.

The graphics card we will test today is based on the immensely popular Radeon HD 4850. Probably the best value card one can buy. These cards at default come with 512 MB gDDR3 memory. Now, I can see a manufacturer double up that memory to 1 GB. The effect would be small but measurable when you play games in very high resolutions.

So we're testing a product from the company Gigabyte who ironically equipped one of their Radeon HD 4850 graphics cards ... with one Gigabyte.

Meet the Gigabyte B550 Vision D motherboard. This product from the Vision series (which includes also a Z490 motherboard) is an AMD AM4 socket product targeted at creators. Built in the ATX form-factor, the design resembles GB’s Designaire models. Make no mistake, this is a high-end product. It should provide excellent stability, and boasts features not to be found in cheaper models.
