Product Showcase

So above you can see the retail packaging of the Osmium, huge box and heavy as well as the product is not light in weight. BTW if you look up Osmium then you'll learn it's a hard brittle blue-black metallic element that is one of the platinum metals; the heaviest metal known. Apparently Gigabyte wants to associate the product with that.

Opening up the packaging reveals the mechanical keyboard nicely packaged and protected in foam. BTW you will need to grab the software from Gigabyte's website, a CD is not included. It is rather hard to find as it is not listed through the product pages. So if you need it, click here. back to bundling, you'll receive the keyboard, a small manual, some customizable keys and a key-cap remover.

Once we take out the keyboard we spot the Osmosium. It has a nice dark design. Combined with blue lit key's that's going to look great.

The keyboard itself is built from rugged plastic. It has a matte slippery feel under your fingers when it comes to the actual keys though. The keyboard has a nice weight of roughly 1.5 KG, it sits very stable on the desktop due to its weight and has a very sturdy build quality. Nice to see are adjustable height stands.

The keyboard uses two braided USB cables each roughly 2 meters long. Next to that you'll spot two audio cables so you can connect MIC and a Headset towards the keyboard if you'd prefer that. While the keyboard itself feeds andf functions itself over USB 2.0 you should already have noticed that the connectors are colored blue, so yes that's USB 3.0

Simply connect them to you USB 3.0 port on the PC and they keyboard will extend these with a USB 3.0 ports as it functions as a HUB. It is a nice feature to have USB 3.0 so close in range.

When we flip the keyboard we see four rubberized feet that can be extended to give the keyboard a little more height. Thanks to its sheer weight of roughly 1.5 KG and the rubber mounts the keyboard will sit very tightly onto your desktop. Detachable is a hand rest, wee have removed it here, but have a look at the next photo.
