Installation

Before going into the depths of your PC case, make sure to ground yourself to avoid chances of ruining your electronic components with static. Just touch a metal unpainted part of your case).

The installation is really easy, and it is a lot easier if you have an AMD64 or P4 478 socket system and still have the original retention brackets on as all you have to do is put some thermal grease on the heatsink and then mount it as you would with the reference cooler. Now if you have an LGA775 based system, you will need to take the motherboard off, and mount the supplied retention ring with the use of four screws and washers. The base while not shiny smooth, is flat and makes good contact.

With the LGA you will need to use the screws along with the retention ring. For the 478 socket you only just need the two P4 clips.

People with AMD systems will only need to use this clip. Will work for 939/754 and AM2 sockets. It is really nice to see that the clip can grab on all of the 6 claws the 939/754 socket has and not just the center one.

This is how you connect them.

Don't forget to take the protective film off the base before you mount the cooler. And don't forget the all important thermal paste.
