So summed up, once unboxed you'll spot the cooling unit consisting of the heatsink assembly, fan and brackets + back plate that support a very wide range of AMD and Intel processors. A little GC2 thermal paste is included as well. Also included is a special screwdriver, extra long, we'll show you why later on in the article.
The cooler is nice and big at dimensions of 130 (L) x 65 (W) x 159 (H) mm with the fans included. It weighs 720g. The fan can be used in PWM mode controlled by your motherboard. The unit works on not just Intel LGA 775, LGA 1155 and LGA 1156 CPUs, but also AM2(+), AM3 and FM1 processors from Advanced Micro Devices.
Gelid is a company that made a nice impression a year or two ago introducing themselves by releasing their first aftermarket CPU cooler, the 'Silent Spirit' cooler. After Gelid released that Silent Spirit and then Tranqillo CPU coolers it was time for a new model. Progress is made and anno Q4 2011 it's time to release their third consumer grade CPU cooler. Their latest creation comes in the form of a tower cooler called GX-7 -- aimed at gamers apparently.
