Some marketing info first (from 26th December 2022): “GeIL – Golden Emperor International Ltd. –is proud to announce the grand launch of the DDR5 8000MHz 16GB x 2 CL38-448-90 1.45V ultra-speed modules will be available in Q1, 2023. The GeIL DDR5 lineup includes EVO V and Polaris RGB, which are tailor-made for hardcore gamers and hardware enthusiasts to deliver unparalleled performance and stability. In addition, GeIL Dyna 5 has created a comprehensive and efficient automated testing process for grading and sorting every DDR5 IC. As a result, GeIL ensures the bandwidth data transmission, compatibility, reliability, and integrity to meet all the demands of gamers and overclockers using Intel's latest platforms.
GeIL is a brand committed to offering memory products with a broader range of overclocking potential to PC enthusiasts and gamers. The latest GeIL DDR5 8000MHz memory modules are built with the advanced PMIC (Power Management IC), which can effectively obtain and control a broader range of localized voltage adjustments. The PMIC is used to enhance the overall stability and performance of the memory module and can effectively unlock additional overclocking headroom.
GeIL DDR5 8000MHz memory modules will be available at major retailers worldwide in Q1 2023. These modules are the intelligent choice for users looking to get high-performance DDR5 memory that has been highly customized for pro gamers and overclockers alike.”

Enough with the marketing stuff here so we can proceed to the essence. Let’s see what we have under the hood. At last, the Thaiphoon Burner, an excellent utility for checking the essential data on RAM – can be used for the DDR5. You can not find the QVL for this kit.
It shows that Hynix is the DRAM manufacturer (A-Die).

The chips are covered with a heatsink to ensure the memory and PCB maintain a similar temperature, providing the best performance. Traditionally, we’ll kick off the review with photo-shooting and the practical part (benchmark/games). You put the sticks in, enable XMP (which is, in fact, the industry standard, and it’s hard to spot any RAM without this feature nowadays), reboot, and that’s it. Well, at least, usually, it’s the case. Today it will be a bit different, as such high-frequency memory has some additional requirements, as it should be a 13th gen Intel CPU (with a good IMC – Integrated Memory Controller) and preferably a 2-DIMM motherboard.
Geil (Golden Emperor International Limited) is headquartered in Taipei, Taiwan. It was founded in 1993 and will have its 30th anniversary this year. At the end of last year, we had an opportunity to check their Evo V DDR5 memory kit, consisting of two 16 GB modules with a frequency of 6200 MHz and CL34 latency. What are the main differences vs. Evo V? Mainly, the design of a radiator and the lack of two fans used for active cooling of the modules. This time, we will review Geil’s second series, Polaris RGB (there’s also a “regular” Polaris without the lighting), with an astonishing frequency of 8000 MHz.
