There we have it, this is the NVIDIA founder edition kit. The GeForce RTX 4090 has a rugged 24 Gigabytes of GDDR6X memory that operates at an effective data rate of 21 Gbps. On the following pages, we'll go over the specifics of the product in more sumptuous detail.

The GeForce RTX 4090 Founders Edition card has a luxury feel in the hand; the product's finish is very well-crafted. A remark must be made about its size since it will eat some space on your computer's chassis checking in at almost 31cm. The founder edition is three slots thick though.

The ADA series will replace the Ampere lineup, which will be phased out of the market as these cards are priced similarly but are significantly quicker. GeForce RTX 3090 was equipped with 10496 stream/Shader processors, and the GeForce RTX 4090 kicks in at 16384 shading cores. It has a board design that is extremely similar to the RTX 3090 Ti Founders Edition. This is due to NVIDIA's decision to keep the previous-generation Dual-Axial Flow-Through cooling architecture. The cooler's design has, of course, been updated with bigger radiators and a bigger fan design.

NVIDIA is the exclusive provider of power adapters included with RTX 40-series graphics cards, whether the Founders Edition or custom-designed boards by partners. It transforms four 150 W 8-pin PCIe power connectors to a 12+4 pin ATX 12VHPWR connector capable of delivering 600 W (constant) to the card. Below are more photos focusing on the new 12VHPWR power connector and demonstrating how the card looks when powered up; despite its colossal size, it still has high-quality aesthetics. That rear side latch we'll address on the next page. Despite conforming to PCIe Gen 5 specifications, the GeForce RTX 4090 employs a PCIe Gen 4.0 x16 host interface.

GeForce RTX 4090 is equipped with 24 Gigabytes of GDDR6X memory, which operates at 21 Gbps (effective data rate). This provides a substantial amount of volume and bandwidth combined it's 384-bit wide memory bus. Below the new 12VHPWR adapter cable, your power supply thus MUST have four 8-pin PCIe PEG power output cables. With a 450W TGP, we advise an 850 Watt power supply as a minimum. Realistically through with the founder edition card, we did not hit that value. You're looking at roughly 425 Watts, which is significantly lower than the Radeon RX 6950X and GeForce RTX 3090 Ti. The board partners, however, have more TGT allowance, there's where the card will make a jump in Wattage.
