GeForce GTX 480 3-way SLI review -
ATI versus NVIDIA: Call of Duty MW2
Okay you've just experienced a dry hump session of pure NVIDIA scaling within the several GeForce GTX 480 configurations. But obviously you'd also like to learn a thing or two about performance scaling in-between ATI and NVIDIA.
Now due to the huge amount of time needed to accomplish this, for this article, I narrowed down the multi-GPU setup towards two cards, thus 2-way SLI and 2-way Crossfire. Both brands are again tested on the very same machine, just with a different drive image (we have a dedicated ATI OS and an NVIDIA OS) other than that everything is the same including patches and what not.
We'll focus on three resolutions:
- 1600x1200
- 1920x1200
- 2560x1600
Each game has the exact same settings in image quality as normal. Let's start off.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2
Image Quality setting:
- 4x Anti-Aliasing
- 16x Anisotropic Filtering
- All settings maxed out
As you can see, NVIDIA scales phenomenally here; absolutely dominating ATI.
