Palit will also release several SKUs based on both GeForce GTX 460 models. They figured... heck it's Guru3D.com, so let's send them the fastest card on the block. The Sonic Platinum comes with a truly amazing 800 MHz core clock frequency, 1600 MHz on the shader domain and a nice 4000 MHz data rate on the 1024MB GDDR5 memory. Being the 1GB model it comes with the full 32 ROPs. This, without doubt, is the fastest card submitted to us today. The bundle is sober, only a manual, driver CD and 6-pin PEG power converter but man, this little fracker is fast.

The card itself comes with a red custom PCB and a dandy cooler. The cooling performance is good and the card remains very silent even at these clocks. We'll show you all that later on in the article of course. The card looks small, and that's because it is, being the fastest of them all that is somewhat funny to observe.

It's a Palit card, and that always means a lot of connectivity, nice! Two dual-link DVI connectors, a DSUB (VGA) connector and an HDMI connector can be found on the GeForce GTX 460 1024MB Sonic Platinum edition graphics card.

The Sonic Platinum also comes with two 6-pin PEG power connectors. Being the 1GB model, this card has a rated TDP of 160 Watts but with that massive default overclock... we expect to see 170W being more realistic. Again we spot just one SLI finger, so a maximum of two cards set up in SLI is possible.

And the backside of the card, definitely a custom PCB design alright. It would be nice to see another PCB color to be honest, black would have had my preference as that would have made the card look really stylish. Anyway, more on this card in the test/benchmark sessions and conclusion, but we can already reveal that this is a really blazing and amazing little card alright. Pricing wise, due to the highly clocked SKU, expect a price of roughly 250 USD once decent volume availability kicks in. The GeForce GTX460 1GB Sonic Platinum is able to compete with the Radeon HD 5850 quite well.
