The Verdict

Right, so that was a pretty awesome overclock really. Remember if you like to try out overclocking yourself, there's always a little risk. You do this at your own risk, it is not covered by your warranty. Do it wisely, do it safe and you can gain extra performance without much risk though.

As far as the GeForce GTX 275 goes .. it's a pretty darn nice overclocker. We bumped the core clock to 743MHz vs. 632MHz standard, the shader domain clock is now 1605MHz vs. 1404MHz standard and the memory is running at 1282MHz (2564 effective) vs. 1134MHz standard.

That is really significant, and as a result a good chunk faster than the GeForce GTX 285 (reference) really. Not bad for this kind of money. Again, this overclock is not a guarantee for your OC experience  .. your results might be much lower, or even higher. For this card we used, this was the maximum though. The end result in performance meant a boost of 10 to 15% in overall performance. As such we can say that the GeForce GTX 275 has a lot of overclocking headroom.

You don't want to overclock as you think it is too risky ? A  lot of manufacturers out there will be releasing pre-overclocked models of the GTX 275. Do you really want to spend the additional cash on a pre-OC model ? Well in all fairness, that overclock is covered by product warranty and you will not have the hassle of overclocking yourself. So there is a lot to be said for that as well. But yes, you will pay more money for it.
