With its three DisplayPort ports, the card could even manage 4K monitors in surround. The card is based on a dual-slot dual design.

The SOC has been fitted with two 8-pin power jacks (PCI PEG). Each connector can deliver 150 Watts and then the PCIE Slot can power another 75 Watts as well. So the design is 375 Watts; at least we have enough juice available for some overclocking eh? The card has a 8-phase (6+2 GPU and memory) power design.

As you can see, the card has SLI connectors so if you've got cash to spend, 2, 3 and 4-way SLI are an option to pursue, though we always recommend two cards maximum for the best scaling and as few driver issues as possible. Tweaked, we’ve seen this 980 board reach over 1.5 GHz (!) on the Turbo clock frequency, very nice but we'll talk more about that later on in this article.

The cooler has five heat pipes with nickel plating and there is a Full Copper-Nickel Base that maximizes heat transfer directly on top of the GPU.
