Gainward GeForce RTX 4090 Phantom GS review

Gainward is up next, having sent in their Phantom GS version of the GeForce RTX 4090, which has been factory-tweaked and performed admirably during our tests. Is this Gainward graphics card, which has a faster clock frequency and dual BIOS but costs the same as the founder edition, competitive?

While we all had a reasonably dull year in terms of technology, Q3/Q4 2022 is loaded with new released. Among them is NVIDIA's first ADA GPU architecture graphics card for the consumer market. The business has unveiled its new GPU design for next-generation gaming PCs. In the short term, two or three variants of GPUs are expected in the first launch wave, each one will outperform the Ampere 3000 series somehow. NVIDIA's RTX 4000 GPUs will provide impressive performance, but next-gen graphics cards may have to contend with alternatives like AMD's rDNA 3 and Intel's Arc Alchemist. The GeForce RTX 4090 is Nvidia's flagship model in the new series. With a base frequency of 2.23 GHz and a boost clock of 2.52 GHz the card will feature 16384 Shader processor cores. These cards will be fitted with a grand 24GB GDDR6X graphics memory that communicates over a 384-bit wide memory bus. The graphics card has a 450W TBP (total board power). Secondly, the company will release two distinct GeForce RTX 4080 versions. GeForce RTX 4080 12GB with GDDR6X RAM and a Lovelace GPU with 7680 CUDA cores will be the "entry-level model." It has 2.31GHz clock speeds and a turbo frequency of 2.61GHz. The RTX 4080 12GB has a 192-bit memory interface and 285W maximum power use. Nvidia also announces a 16GB model of the RTX 4080. This will get more memory and a more powerful GPU with 9728 CUDA cores. This card's clock speed is 2.21 GHz, with a boost clock of 2.51 GHz. This card will also have a 256-bit memory bus and a tbp of 320W. Both RTX 4080 graphics cards will be available in November. Nvidia will release Founders Editions of the RTX 4090 and RTX 4080 16GB graphics cards. Only customized variants of board partners of the RTX 4080 12GB will be sold.

Gainward GeForce RTX 4090 Phantom GS

Gainward isn't a product that you see a lot in the US or EU, however, they've been here for many years and the same company behind Palit is in fact responsible for the products. Gainward goes back to the basics, sheer dark looks with massive three fan and three .5 slot cooling! It features a whopping 16,384 Shader cores and 24 GB of brand-new GDDR6X graphics memory. Gainward as well designed the card with a semi-passive cooling system; once the GPU warms up, the three fans begin to cool. The card has been strengthened significantly to prevent sagging. Two BIOS settings are available: Performance and Quiet mode. The performance of both BIOS settings is identical to within 1%. However, temperatures and noise levels vary owing to fan delta changes. In acoustic testing, we measure only 34~35 DBa (quiet mode) to give you an idea. The manufacturer increased both the power consumption limit (TGP ~450) and turbo frequency. This card's 2610 MHz clock speed, the increased power limiter and frequency make this a fast one. Tweaked we see it hit 3.0 GHz. Effectively, the memory operates at a rate of 21 Gbps. With these specifications and other high-end components in mind, it would be ideal to pair this graphics card with a power supply of at least 850 watts.  Let us get this review going, shall we?

Gainward Ultra 760 XP Golden review
Armed with a RED PCB, kick'ass cooling and ramsinks Gainward tried to get your attention. That's not it though, the product is fully VIVO (Video In and Video Out) which means you can playback and record media files. Also included into the package is a FireWire card to connect your DV camera or any other FireWire device and the software to start editing movies at consumer level. All-in-all an impressive package for a mid-end product. The GPU is of course a capable of utilizing DirectX9 (although poor performance) Pixel Shaders 2.0+, Vertex Shader 2.0+ and OpenGL. Basically this product is in the mid-end range and offers with it's cut-down 4 pixel pipeline (four single textured pixels, or two dual textured pixels) value for your money.
