Once we pop the chassis on its back we can see the bottom side; the case is resting on four rubber feet preventing resonating noises. The PSU will be located at the bottom of the chassis, there's a mesh there for ventilation and as you can see it is protected with a removable dust filter.

Front panel IO then, arguably it looks a little bland alright. But there you'll find two of each USB 2.0  and USB 3.x ports, one USB 3.1 Gen 2 Type-C alongside the audio I/O, Power button with LED, and a small reset button. While there is a fan hub, there is no fan controller. Looks good, but USB ports position at the top side this way certainly will collect dust and goop over time.

Internals then. The first impression, there is heaps of space to work in but it does offer surprisingly innovative features that allow you to install quite a bit. I mean take liquid cooling, for example, you could mount:

  • Install up to 7 x 120 mm or 4 x 140 mm fans, and radiators up to 360 mm
  • 1 x 120 mm and 1 x 140 mm Dynamic X2 fans include
So liquid cooling wise the Define 7 Compact is not the biggest, but still, it'll offer enough options.  The PSU is nicely covered up.

Here we can already see the innards a bit better.  The power supply is covered—lots of rubberized grommet holes. I am missing something 'white' in that good old Fractal Design tradition though?
