Packaging

Firestone Audio Mass Preamp and Big Joe IV Mono Blocks

Both the Mass and the Big Joe IV Mono Blocks come in very small packages.  The units are packed in very well wasting no space or excess packaging.  We were really very surprised at the compact size of the bundle, although they are much heavier then they look.

Bundle: Mass Preamp

Lets pull open the first package and see what Firestone Audio sent over to the G3D Audio Lab.  First, we have the remote controlled Mass Preamp.

A Closer Look: Mass Preamp

For those uncertain what a preamps function actually is: A preamp is usually just a source selector and level controller for the connected power amplifiers.  So the pre-amp, will select your source and set your levels for the next device in your audio chain which is the power amplifier section.  Lets have a closer look at the Mass Preamp

Front

The front display indicates volume level (dB), Channel (1/2) and mute (on/off). The front case is fastened using Hex machine screws.  We put the power adapter in the pictures to give an idea of scale to show how compact the Mass preamp is.
