Video memory usage - Final Words & Conclusion

Graphics memory (VRAM) usage

How much graphics memory does the game utilize versus your monitor resolution with different graphics cards and respective VRAM sizes ? Well, lets have a look at the chart below.

Far Cry Primal is reasonably demanding in terms of graphics memory. Really up-to 1920x1080 2GB is minimal and even better yet 3GB card is sufficient. At 2560x1440 HD a 3GB to 4GB card is recommended. If you are lacking graphics memory and feel that in your perf, simply flick down in complex AA levels (if you have them enabled) and watch your graphics card memory rise.

It's primeval

It is time to conclude this article. We have a lovely time testing the game. Despite this 'more of the same' title Ubisoft does not disappoint with let's call it Far Cry 5. The fun is to be found in new gameplay. Taming wild animals is intriguing, you however will need to be resourceful. The concept for this title is interesting as it adds something new into the mix. Far Cry Primal also has some beautiful scenery's and scenes harbored in the game. All factors combined make it an original game. Some words of wisdom to Ubisoft though, there's only so many times you can get away with re-spin games. Far Cry could become repetitive like Assassin's Creed and the Anno series in the sense that it is the same stuff in a different jacket. So that originality in the future versions will need to be exactly that, original. In the end it is a sandbox game with the same Dunia game engine and a similar type of gameplay. It's just different rules and scenery. I obviously also understad that everything PC gaming wise already has been invented, and as such it makes much sense to re-use the golden formula. The game looks pretty good though, let's be clear about that. Oh and hey ... massive props to Ubisoft for actually inserting a proper integrated benchmark. It allows for precise measurements, so yes hats off for that as not only the tech press can use it, you guys can now replicate results and fine-tune your performance as well. As always, up-to Full HD at 1920x1080/1200 an 2GB~3GB graphics card will be sufficient. Once you pass that resolution 3GB~ 4GB or better is recommended. So up-to 1080p a GeForce GTX 960 or a Radeon R9 380 would be a pretty good match in terms of value for money. For the Quad HD resolution at 2560x1440 you'll need a little more spice like a GeForce GTX 970 or Radeon R9 290/290X/390, all really good value for money. Ultra HD is for the enthusiast grade PC gamers with the most expensive setups, obviously. Far Cry Primal is a really nice title with enjoyable graphics and nice gameplay.

Hilbert out, peace.

Handy stuff at the end
