PC System Requirements

Far Cry 5 is an action-adventure first-person shooter video game developed by Ubisoft Montreal and published by Ubisoft for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. It is the eleventh installment and the fifth main title in the Far Cry series. Those of us who want to fool around with the settings, there will be a slew of options available, even a graphics memory usage meter (albeit that one is not very precise, we recommend using Afterburner). Also on hand will be various aspect ratio options, a field of view slider, optional framerate caps and resolution scaling support. Anti-aliasing options are limited to SMAA and TAA, though the latter isn't supported by multi-GPU setups.

MINIMUM RECOMMENDED
CPU: Intel Core i5-2400 3.1GHz Core i7 4770 3.4 GHz
CPU: AMD AMD FX-6300 3.5 GHz AMD 5 1600 3.2 GHz
GPU: NVidia GeForce GTX 670 GeForce GTX 970
GPU: AMD Radeon R9 270 AMD Radeon R9 290X
RAM: 8GB 16GB

For performance versus proper in-game image quality, you can expect from most graphics cards to run the game. We  recommended you use a GTX 1060 / Radeon RX 480 to run the game at 1920x1080, a GeForce GTX 1060~1070 / Radeon Rx 570~580 for 2560x1440, and a GeForce GTX 1080 Ti or Vega 64 or better for 3840x2160.

Some other specifications worthy a note:

  • Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system
  • OS: OS 64-bit Windows 7 or 64-bit Windows 8 (8.1)
  • DirectX: Version 11

Plot

The remote community of Hope County, Montana, has been taken over by the cult Project at Eden's Gate , lead by Joseph Seed and his siblings. Following the uploading of several videos exposing Eden's Gate of their actions in an attempt to save Hope County, the US Marshalls issue an arrest warrant for Joseph Seed’s arrest. A US Marshall, along with The Junior Deputy, Deputy Pratz and Deputy Hudson arrive in the town to arrest Joseph. Shortly after bringing him to their helicopter, Joseph’s followers shoot it down, rescuing Joseph and causing the mission to fail, with the Junior Deputy escaping to safety. A new deputy Sheriff sets out to reclaim the town from the grip of the militaristic cult. Assisting the Sheriff are several allies with their own personal grudges against Eden's Gate, including local pastor Jerome Jeffries, bush pilot and mechanic Nick Rye and bartender Mary May Fairgrave, and of course Hurk. Some of these provide quests, some will help you in combat.

Gameplay

The game is set in the fictional Hope County, Montana, where a preacher named Joseph Seed has risen to prominence. Seed believes that he has been chosen to protect the people of Hope County from an "inevitable collapse" and has established a congregation called Eden's Gate. Ostensibly, this is to fulfill his mission of leading the people to salvation; in reality, Seed is a radical preacher and Eden's Gate is a militaristic doomsday cult. Under his rule, Eden's Gate has used both coercion and violence to forcibly convert the residents of Hope County, and intimidation to keep them from contacting the outside world for help. When an attempt to arrest Seed ends with the deaths of several lawmen, the player is swept into the armed conflict between Eden's Gate and the remaining Hope County residents, who are organizing themselves into a resistance movement.

The player takes on the role of a sheriff's deputy who is part of the task force sent to Hope County to arrest Seed. Seed has assumed the title of "the Father" and maintains control over Hope County with the aid of his siblings, known as "the Heralds": Jacob, a former military officer who oversees their armed soldiers; John, a lawyer who has been able to acquire much of the land in Hope County for Eden's Gate; and Faith, who acts as a pacifist to bring the people to believe and trust in her older brother. The residents of Hope County opposed to Seed include a cast of characters who join the fight with motives ranging from altruism to revenge, profit, and boredom.
